Childhood memories include the silly song about the old woman who swallowed a fly. Sure… you remember it. You just don’t know you remember it. It goes something like this:
There was an old woman who swallowed a fly.
I don’t know why she swallowed a fly.
Perhaps she’ll die.
There was an old woman who swallowed a spider.
It wiggled and giggled deep down in side her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don’t why se swallowed a fly.
Perhaps she’ll die.
The was an old woman who swallowed a bird.
How absurd. She swallowed a bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider, who wiggled and giggled deep down inside her.
She swalled the spider to catch the fly.
I don’t know why she swallowed the fly.
Perhaps she’ll die.
You get the idea.
So this evening as I’m sipping my glass of wine, I swallowed a fly. I don’t know why I swallowed a fly. Perhaps I’ll die.
…we all know better. And we all know I’m not going to die. And we all know it isn’t about the old woman who swallowed a fly. It’s really all about Donna!
