It's all about Donna

I think sooner or later folks will see the beauty in blogging. I’ve resisted it for years. I think it’s possible to blog without getting totally personal, but it’s still personal because I’m talking and you’re listening. Remember… it’s all about me. I don’t know that this post will be totally about me, but I’ll see if I can’t spin it that way.

I have a girlfriend who decided to remodel her house. When she discovered that it was going to be extensive, she bought another house to live in while her current house was getting fixed up. Problem was, when she bought the new house, it needed remodeling BEFORE she could move into it. So now she is stuck living in the old house while she’s waiting on the new house to get remodeled. It’s really quite a saga. I told her she should blog about it. This was her reply…

“Can’t do a blog on the house because

1. Too depressing

2. Same ol’ shit, day after day

3. Too busy doing it to write about it

Was in meetings from 6:30 until 10 last night — all bad news, another meeting today, and spent time unsuccessfully trying to track down/stalk architect to get him to come over.

It sucks to live it, would double suck to read about it.

But YOU, on the other hand, are a constant delight!

See? I knew there was a spin in there somewhere to make it all about me!

HOLY CRAP! Can’t these people drive? Darn newbies…

I’m driving along, on my way to work, just minding my own business. There’s a stretch of highway that allows you to move at a pretty swift pace, of course it can’t be that swift…after all we’re talking day job traffic here. Anyway, I’m cooking along, rolling with the flow. It’s a two-lane highway. One lane heading east, one lane heading west. That’s it. It’s dangerous. That’s a given. People die on TX Hwy 114. It’s a known fact. Back to me… I’m driving along, rolling with the flow. There’s barely 3 cart lengths between me and the string of cars leading the way. THERE IS NO ONE BEHIND ME. This MO-ron decides he’s gonna pull out, making a left turn from my right side… IN FRONT OF ME! HELLO??? HOLY CRAP!

Man do I *love* my BMW! It may be old, but it gets it when you need it. I zigged left instead of right. I know. I broke the golden driving rule, but hey… I *love* my little car and really didn’t want to destroy it today. Had I gone right, I would either hit the tail-end of the MO-ron pickup truck or run over his trailer. Neither would have produced the desired results. So I floored it and zigged left. Whew! In the clear.

Proving once again, it’s all about me!

I recently spent time with my best girlfriends and a few new girlfriends (I hope they become new best girlfriends, too). I had a blast. I say “I” and not “we” because I don’t know if they had fun or not, but it’s all about me and not them. Right? We did the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo parade. Our entry, the North Texas Whip won the highly coveted Chairman’s Award! How great is that? OK. I concede. That definitely was not all about me, but if I hadn’t been there, things just might have turned out differently. Pam, you know what I mean So technically, it was all about me.

Welcome to life in my day.

I open this blog at the urging of my friends. This is not the first time this has happened. They’ve made suggestions like this before and man have I ended up doing some crazy things as a result. Yeah… I’m a risk taker. I can divulge that small tidbit about me.

With this blog I thee wed. Ha! That was a joke. It just slipped out. Seriously… or maybe not so seriously, with this blog I’ll be sharing snippets of the life in my day. And believe me, I have a lot of life in my days!

As so much with activity on the Web, this is a work in progress and I’m just getting started. I hope you’ll visit frequently and enjoy some of the life in my day! And remember… it’s not always about me. –Donna
